My background as a creative director has given me a love for an interesting image, and resulted in an open and experimental approach to making photographs.
I have a passion for portraits - engaging with a stranger in the studio or on the street and capturing what makes them unique. Every subject is a brand new challenge.
Anil Mistry has undertaken portrait and documentary commissions in the UK, Hong Kong and India.
He hosts photowalks in Brighton and London, and has collaborated with Lomography the cult camera and film manufacturer.
Anil is a passionate proponent of all forms of photography, and has written articles and reviews for photography sites including 35MMC, Emulsive.org and Ilford Photo, as well as featuring as a guest on The Sunny 16 Podcast, Negative Positives Podcast and The Classic Lenses Podcast.
He has published a number of books of his own work and his projects have been featured in Black and White Photography Magazine and The Idler. He has recently launched a new label:- “Unusual Eye” - through which he will curate and publish affordable, limited edition photography books from interesting photographers he has come across on his travels.
